Jamie Raskin Alarmed to Discover Maryland’s 8th District Contains People Who Aren’t Jamie Raskin

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Rep. Jamie Raskin reportedly entered a state of profound constitutional concern this week after learning that Maryland’s 8th Congressional District contains approximately several hundred thousand people who are not Jamie Raskin.

Sources say the discovery came after Republican challenger Cheryl Riley posted another sprawling broadside against the congressman.

Raskin immediately convened an emergency symposium.

“Obviously, this raises troubling questions about democracy,” he reportedly said while standing in front of six microphones, three law professors and a camera that had not actually been turned on yet.

Raskin has represented the district since 2017 and currently serves as ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee.

But residents say they increasingly recognize him from his other full-time position:

Man Standing Behind Podium Explaining Why Something Is The Most Dangerous Thing Since Yesterday.

Local scientists have documented several stages of the Raskin media cycle:

  1. Someone says something.
  2. Raskin appears on television.
  3. The Constitution is mentioned.
  4. “Democracy” enters the chat.
  5. Somewhere in Takoma Park, a tote bag spontaneously prints itself.

One Bethesda resident attempted to ask about potholes but accidentally triggered a 47-minute lecture on constitutional originalism, January 6, authoritarianism and James Madison’s summer plans in 1787.

“I just wanted to know when they’re fixing Wisconsin Avenue,” the resident said.

Raskin then reportedly asked whether Wisconsin Avenue itself had sufficiently condemned Donald Trump.

Riley’s latest attack accuses Raskin of practically everything short of stealing the copper pipes from the Capitol.

Raskin’s office has not responded to the Canton Cat, probably because nobody there speaks fluent raccoon.

Still, the congressman remains highly skilled at the essential Washington art of appearing simultaneously furious, disappointed, constitutionally alarmed and three minutes away from an MSNBC hit.

Political researchers believe that if every television camera in Washington were suddenly removed, Raskin would instinctively migrate toward the nearest Ring doorbell.

At press time, he was reportedly preparing another statement beginning:

“This is an unprecedented assault on our democracy—”

before an aide whispered that the vending machine had simply eaten his dollar.

Raskin demanded a Judiciary Committee hearing anyway.
