Puck is The Canton Cat’s home for that tradition: elaborate, old-school editorial cartoons built around caricature, symbolism, exaggeration, and the occasional politician transformed into something considerably less dignified.

These cartoons borrow the visual language of America’s classic illustrated political press — aged paper, hand-drawn caricatures, allegorical figures, oversized labels, dramatic captions, and scenes packed with enough symbolism to reward a second look.

Why “Puck”?

The name is a nod to the long tradition of American political cartooning in which politicians were mocked through exaggerated characters, animals, allegory, and visual metaphor. The Canton Cat brings that approach into the present — with Maryland providing no shortage of material.
