WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump reportedly appeared to doze off during his own speech on the second night of the RNC midterm convention, briefly becoming the only person in the room brave enough to admit the speech was running a little long.
Witnesses said Trump was midway through explaining that America had never seen anything like whatever he was currently talking about when his eyelids staged a peaceful transition of power.
The crowd initially assumed it was a dramatic pause.
Then five seconds passed.
Then ten.
Then someone whispered, “Is he… rebooting?”

Republican officials quickly insisted the president was not sleeping.
“He was engaging in a highly advanced form of executive visualization,” one aide explained. “Eyes closed. Chin down. Possibly dreaming about tariffs.”

Others suggested Trump was simply conserving energy ahead of another 94 minutes of saying “tremendous,” “disaster,” and “nobody’s ever seen anything like it.”
Convention organizers reportedly considered waking him, but stopped after realizing the teleprompter was also taking a break.

J.D. Vance was seen standing nearby looking concerned, then relieved, then briefly wondering whether presidential succession rules cover naps.
Democrats immediately mocked the moment before being reminded their party has spent several years insisting visible exhaustion is actually “sharp and focused.”
Trump eventually opened his eyes, looked around, and continued speaking as though nothing had happened.
Nobody in the arena noticed.
At press time, the RNC had added a new slogan for Night Three:
MAKE AMERICA AWAKE AGAIN.
Canton Cat’s review: I’ve slept through garbage trucks, thunderstorms, and two raccoons fighting over a rotisserie chicken. Even I respect that level of commitment to the nap.
