DAMASCUS, Md. — District 9A candidate Fitzgerald Mofor arrived at the Damascus Fair this week in what he repeatedly described as “God’s Country,” creating immediate confusion over whether he was campaigning for the Maryland House of Delegates or returning to reclaim his earthly kingdom.

Witnesses say Mofor appeared beneath the fair tents with snacks, candy, granola bars, American flags, and the physical presence of a man apparently designed by a committee that rejected the phrase “too much linebacker.”

“People of Damascus,” Mofor reportedly declared, “I come before you to lower costs, strengthen public safety, upgrade infrastructure, fix schools, grow small businesses and possibly move that tractor with my bare hands.”

Campaign aides confirmed the platform is built around five pillars:

Lower costs.
Fix roads.
Support schools.
Strengthen public safety.
Look like you could personally carry Annapolis back to Montgomery County.

Political analysts say the “God’s Country” messaging may prove effective in Damascus, where residents generally prefer candidates who understand rural Maryland and can plausibly survive being kicked by livestock.

The Canton Cat attempted to interview Mofor but was forced to stand several feet back after determining the candidate’s shoulders constituted their own zoning district.

“Sir,” the Cat asked, “what qualifies you to represent District 9A?”

Mofor reportedly gestured toward himself.

The interview ended there.

At press time, Mofor was still greeting voters beneath the tent while several nearby candidates quietly revised their campaign literature to include:

“Also reasonably strong.”
